It appears that all contemporary Liberal parties who have enjoyed power for a long time assume that they can tamper with our fundamental democratic processes and rights. Kennett certainly did it in the latter years of his Government and now Howard is doing it. It was this arrogance that brought down the Kennett Government – let’s hope Howard will go the same way.
